Sodis Shake and

          Water Walk

What is SODIS?

Solar water disinfection is a type of portable water purification that uses solar energy, in one or more ways, to make contaminated water safe to drink by ridding it of infectious disease-causing biological agents such as bacteria, viruses, protozoa and worms. ...

Here is how to do SODIS:

  1. Collect some old bottles and fill them ¾ full of water
  2. Shake the bottles hard for 20 seconds to one minute. This adds oxygen to the water.
  3. Then fill to the very top.
  4. Now place on a piece of tin, and put then in the sun. This kills the bacteria!
  5. After 6 hours collect the bottles in and it is now ready to drink!

Sponsored SODIS Shake

We had the Great SODIS Shake on Thursday, April 17th! We went to the village of Kayense on Lake Victoria and with a group of other people shook

100L of water!

We were able to teach the kids and adults how to treat water for themselves so that hopefully they won't keep getting sick from unsafe water.

You can watch all the fun on the short video here! CLICK HERE TO WATCH!

If you want to see the whole process in action, we show you how to SODIS on this short video!
